T&FME (Trucks and Fleet Middle East) talks to Walid Eldessouki General Manager of Trucks division about the growing popularity of Sitrak and Chinese brands in the UAE and that they have local support when needed.

Walid Eldessouki says that one of the priorities has been to ensure that the trucks are ideally suited for local fleet customers.

“Since joined , I’ve received tremendous support from Galadari and Sitrak,” he says.

“Together, we started taking customer feedback seriously and began ordering new trucks and making necessary modifications based on the customers’ needs.”

“For instance, we have enhanced the AC compressor for this market. Similarly, some bearings have been upgraded to cope with the extra weight these trucks carry in the UAE. We also made changes to the mixer type, especially the hoses. Even the tyres were replaced to suit customer demands in the market.”

As countries such as the UAE continuing their journey towards becoming a global trade and logistics hub.

“The market has been evolving rapidly, especially in the last two to three years. that they have local support when needed.

Eldessouki says that one of the priorities has been to ensure that the trucks are ideally suited for local fleet customers.

Trucks Division Helping fleet efficiency

Individual owners often lean towards the European brands, but fleet companies are increasingly opting for newer Chinese brands like Sitrak because of advantages such as a two-year warranty and three if they opt-in to Galadari’ own aftersales support; he tells the magazine.

“The new weight rules have certainly caused a shift in thinking. Companies that were planning on buying second-hand are now considering the benefits of buying new trucks instead. They’re looking at it as a long-term investment, ensuring the trucks are compliant and efficient for the long run”

Walid explained that the trucks produced there remain designed, prepared and produced in strict accordance with demanding quality control guidelines

‘The trucks now in the market represent more than a decade’s worth of effort, and Eldessoukd says it shows in the final product.

“Our trucks perform exceedingly well, especially when considering their price point. Our curb weight, for instance, is one of the best in the market, When we discuss performance, it’s a blend of power, fuel efficiency, and durability. And from the feedback we’ve received, our customers are generally pleased with the balance we offer”

T&EME asks whether the teams at GTHE and Sitrak have observed a change in the market regarding the perception of Chinese brands, especially in the local trucking industry.

“Definitely. A few years ago, Chinese brands might have been viewed skeptically.

However, as the technology and quality have improved, they’re gaining respect in the market. Moreover, the cost advantage coupled with reliable performance has made Chinese trucks, like Sitrak, an attractive option for many businesses”

“The future is about adaptability: As regulations evolve, we need to ensure our trucks remain compliant and efficient.

We also need to stay attuned to customer needs and feedback. I believe if we to offer quality products at competitive prices and back that up with reliable after-sales service, the future is bright for Sitrak.”
